HEALTH CARE
SECURITY OFFICERS

*This position is staffed through the University of Kentucky Police Department, but works within the UK HealthCare facilities

The Health Care Security Officer at University of Kentucky healthcare facilities plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of patients, staff, and visitors. The primary responsibilities include maintaining a secure and orderly environment within the healthcare facility. The officer is tasked with preventing and responding to security incidents, emergencies, and potential threats to the well-being of individuals on the premises.

Moreover, joining as a Security Officer provides the opportunity to work towards career advancement, with the potential to progress to the role of Entry Level Officer.

ENTRY LEVEL OFFICERS
EARN $67,500

Officers start earning $63,200 and receive $4,300 after graduating the academy.

University of Kentucky Police Officers are responsible for providing the University community with a safe and secure environment in which to work, live and learn. The major job responsibilities of the University of Kentucky Police Officer include patrol and investigations, public relations and service, community oriented policing, professional development and training, and report writing.

SPECIALIZED TRAINING

UKPD prides itself in providing excellent training to its officers. The level of training UK police officers receive exceeds the Peace Officers Professional Standards which is overseen by the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council (KLEC). As part of UKPD, you will have the opportunity to receive specialized training in a multitude of areas including K-9 Operations, Motorcycle Unit, Crowd Control, Dignitary Protection, Crisis Intervention Training, as well as a host of other topics which increases the level of service to our community.
